Shane Bedwell has been named chief operating offi cer and director of breed improvement of the
American Hereford Association (AHA). He will lead the AHA performance department and oversee the National Reference Sire Program (NRSP) and Whole Herd Total Performance Records (TPR) program. Prior joining the AHA staff, Bedwell coached the livestock judging team at Colorado State University. A Kansas State University graduate, he was a mem- ber of the 2003 Reserve National Champion Judging Team. Shane earned a master’s degree in beef cattle nutrition from the University of Illinois in 2007. After settling 2 estates and other family matters, Tom Lasater’s Colorado Ranch and the Founda-
tion Herd of the Beefmaster Breed have new names. Going forward, they are known as the Dale Lasater Ranch and the herd name is Foundation Beefmasters. The genetics for this ongoing closed Beefmaster cow herd, and for the development of the breed, were the work of Tom Lasater in Falfurrias. He used the genet- ics from the Brahman and Hereford herds developed
