Starry eyed When Le Pashmina launches this winter it will be the fourth five-star hotel to open in Trois Vallees’ Val Thorens, cementing the resort’s status as an upcoming luxury hotspot. A true mountain refuge, the property has 42 rooms and suites plus eight apartments and a Spa by L’Occitane. An unusual feature is the rooftop Igloo-pod, a furnished geodesic dome that opens to the sky so guests can sleep under the stars. It also flaunts two restaurants serving up gourmet dishes by chefs Romauld Fassenet and Josselin Jean-Blanc,

La dolce vita British chef and Gordon Ramsay protegee Angela Hartnett has turned her hand to the mountains with a new restaurant, Cucina Angelina, in Courchevel hotspot La Portetta. Slated for a December opening,
it will serve up Italian mountain fare with a nod to the local Savoyard cuisine.
The surroundings will remain in
keeping with La Portetta’s relaxed style with rich colours and textured fabrics on oversized banquette sofas. Dishes include roasted suckling pig and pappardelle mushroom, pecorino and parsley,

Ker-plonk Wine connoisseurs should make a beeline for the new Chalet Jejalp this winter. The property is Consensio’s first in the French resort of Morzine and features a glass wine tower rising four floors through the building with each floor representing a different wine – red, white, rose and champagne. Other highlights include a large cinema room, a spa with floor-to-ceiling windows and sunken hot tub, and a terrace with mountain views,

Nip and tuck French resort Val d’Isere underwent the topographical equivalent of a facelift this summer. The £11.1 million two-year project sees the summit of the Solaise ski area reshaped with a million tons of earth shifted to create a new mid-mountain station at 2500m. The old Solaise Express four-person chairlift, along with the cable car, continue to provide mountain access this winter. However, from November 2016, these will be replaced by a 10-person gondola with 91 cabins complete with heated seats and Wi-Fi. Top stations for all three lifts are on one level beside the new day lodge, which will be home to a cafe, a picnic area, a sun terrace and toilets. The slope has been regraded from around 16% to 7% to make it a secure learning area, while the lift also serves a new tubing area for kids and adults.

Royal trail Baquiera-Beret isn’t a resort you’re often likely to hear discussed over dinner but it is the preferred choice of the King of Spain and Carrier has cottoned on to its charms. New for this season is Hotel Val de Neu, the only five-star property in the Spanish Pyrenees. Set at the foot of the slopes it has a Champagne Terrace by Louis Roederer complete with igloo Champagne Bar serving oysters and caviar. The skiing isn’t bad either, with plenty of piste skiing for intermediates and opportunities for heli-skiing and off-piste touring,

Well hello Mr Bond Ice Q in Solden, Austria, has been getting in on the action thanks to new Bond flick Spectre. The gourmet mountain restaurant, located at 3,048m and accessible only by gondola, is one of the locations used by 007 and his entourage in this latest film. The mountain-top eatery is
linked to the five-star Das Central hotel and every Wednesday hosts a seven-course summit dinner. We wonder whether Bond indulged,
