Tahiti and her islands Perhaps already the best known of the French

overseas territories, Tahiti and her islands have long been a romantic magnet for honeymooners. The hotels that welcome newlyweds are

generally made up of luxurious, traditional thatched-roof bungalows built with all the amenities of a first-class hotel room and perched above the turquoise waters of the lagoon. These ‘islet-hotels’ are completely integrated into the landscape and provide discreet service, so each couple can enjoy this paradise with privacy. In addition to their legendary hospitality, these unique

hotels now also offer such classic services as water therapy and wellness services, based around the legendary Monoi oil. This fragrant oil is produced using Tiare flowers, and has been known for its health benefits for more than 2,000 years. Activities among the islands include swimming and

world-class snorkeling in the safe and crystal-clear lagoons that are scattered around this romantic getaway. And for men, a visit to a farm of pearl oysters is essential to find a souvenir gift for their sweetheart.

It is still possible to visit the Guyanese Space Centre at

If fortunate, visitors may even be able to see a live launch of Ariane, Soyouz or Vega rockets, from the nearby observation areas. Added to that, there is a superb wetland zone that is

perfect for seeing water birds such as heron, egret, ibis and kingfisher, as well as the especially remarkable hoatzin, the world's only species of ruminant bird.
