The Islands of Guadeloupe Discover the astounding setting for the popular BBC police

drama, Death in Paradise, with its rolling cast of many familiar British actors set against a Caribbean backdrop. The programme may be set on the fictional island of Saint Marie, but it is in fact filmed in Guadeloupe, which is made up of five islands, with two main ones in the shape of a butterfly – Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre. The British-French light-hearted crime drama TV series

is created by Robert Thorogood and initially starred Ben Miller and Sara Martins, but Kris Marshall and Josephine Jobert later took on the main roles. Most of the action for the TV series is filmed in Deshaies on the northwest coast of Basse-Terre, which doubles for the fictional town of Honore in the programme. And when it comes to places to stay in Guadeloupe, there are many eco-tourism residences, gites, small charming hotels and private villas, as well as four-star hotels across the islands.
