Intercontinental O2 dining revealed


INTERCONTINENTAL HOTELS AND RESORTS has announced the five restaurants and bars that will feature in its new London property when it opens this winter. The 453-room Intercontinental London the O2 will be located on the Greenwich


Peninsula, and each food and drink venue will offer panoramic views of the Thames. The rooftop Eighteen Sky Bar will serve cocktails, craft beers and a pan-Asian menu, while the Market Brasserie will provide all-day dining and the Peninsula restaurant modern European fare. Clipper Bar (pictured) will offer a wide range of drinks and afternoon tea, while snacks and pastries will be available in the Meridian Lounge. ihg.com

Cityjet to upgrade London City fleet


CITYJET IS TO REPLACE its ageing fleet of Avro RJ85 aircraft with 15 Sukhoi Superjet 100s. The airline will take delivery of four new SSJ100s next year, with a further 11 due in 2017 and options for ten more. Operating from London City airport, the SSJ100 contains 98 seats and will be the first aircraft in its class to have five-abreast seating with a 32-inch pitch. With a cabin height of more than two metres, the SSJ100 offers more standing and overhead bin space than competitors, Cityjet said. cityjet.com


SHANGRI-LA has opened a property in Bengaluru, the luxury brand’s second in India. The 397-room Shangri-La Bengaluru is located 30 minutes from the airport, on an 8,000 sqm site between the central business district and the suburbs. ACCORHOTELS has opened an Ibis Styles hotel in Glasgow. The Ibis Styles Glasgow Centre George Square has 101 rooms, a bar and a restaurant. HILTON HOTELS AND RESORTS will launch a Cambridge property next month. The Hilton Cambridge will take over the Cambridge City hotel, which has been refurbished, and will contain 198 rooms, including six suites. HILTON WORLDWIDE has also opened the Doubletree by Hilton Krakow Hotel and Convention Centre, which contains 232 rooms, including 30 Executive rooms and 14 suites. The opening marks the completion of the group’s only dual-branded property in Poland, joining the Hampton by Hilton Krakow, which opened in May. HAMBURG is to gain a new five- star luxury hotel next summer, when the Fontenay opens on the banks of Lake Alster. The new-build property’s 130 rooms and suites will start at 45 sqm, and will all offer floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the water. IHG will launch a third Hotel Indigo property in Berlin, in 2017. The 119- room Hotel Indigo Berlin City – East Side will be located in Friedrichshain- Kreuzberg in Mercedes Platz, a mixed-use complex that will also house several restaurants and bars, a 4,000-capacity events hall and a cinema. The complex itself will not open until 2018. STARWOOD will open the W Belgrade in 2019. Located on the city’s new 2km- long waterfront, it will have 120 rooms, an all-day dining venue, a bar, spa, pool deck and 450 sqm of event space. FAIRMONT will open a property in the Nigerian capital of Abuja in 2019. The 270-room Fairmont Abuja will be located in the central business district, close to the International Conference Centre, which is set to open in 2018.
