EasyJet winter profit Story: EasyJet confirms first winter profit in 13 years I’d like to hear from the campaigners for lower summer fares as to how they propose airlines make up their winter losses if not with summer profits? l jimbo

No excuses now Story: Heathrow April growth prompts expansion demand The PM does not have to cater to Clegg and the Liberals now so no excuses left. Both Heathrow and Gatwick should get (timed) approval for additional runways, with Heathrow first. My concern with ‘Heathrow only’ would be pricing, and [Heathrow chief executive] Holland-Kaye believing he could charge whatever he feels like. l glenn e pickard

Ferry good news Story: MyFerryLink wins Dover-Calais route appeal Good news! I think MyFerryLink are better than P&O and DFDS so why shouldn’t we have the choice to travel with them? Another thing: there are no gambling machines on board, which saves me a fortune! l Jamie

State aid in Gulf Story: Etihad hits back against US carriers If the Gulf carriers had to stand on their own two feet they would not exist. From where did Etihad get the money to buy Alitalia? The Gulf carriers are all government-owned. l Richard Dunnto

Mounser: a legend Sad to read of the passing of Ian Mounser (pictured). I remember him visiting me in the 1980s when he was a rep for Wings Holidays and I worked for Lunn Poly in Leicester. He was always available to speak to with queries, and handled them with his usual calm approach. An industry legend. l David J Frost, retired (formerly Meon Valley Travel/ Quorn Business Travel)

Thank you, Sunvil I have just returned from a trip to Ecuador organised by Sunvil Holidays and would like to say a big thank you to Sue, Lloyd and Will from Sunvil as well as Mildred from Avianca Airlines for organising a fantastic trip. l Chris Riley, Cambourne Travel, Newport Pagnell

Will Tui be smiling? Story: Tui outlines plan for global rebrand

LETTERS OF THE WEEK

As someone who worked for First Choice and then Thomson after the merger, I will be genuinely sad to see both brands go. It will be interesting to see how the market accepts a ‘one brand suits all’ approach. First Choice was always much more family-orientated and value conscious, whereas Thomson was always geared slightly more towards the more affluent couples and families. Some questions need answering, such as what will happen to the likes of Crystal and Sunsail? And will people accept the new branding? Look what happened to Thomas Cook/JMC. l Andrew

Great, can’t wait! Hate the stuck-up Thomson image. l HadEnough

There’s nothing “stuck up” about the brand as it is! l Daniel Bayer
