Delta starts daily midday flight from Manchester to New York JFK airport


Ian Taylor Delta Air Lines was due to begin daily services from Manchester to New York JFK this week (May 22). The launch is the latest in a series of schedule adjustments by Delta and partner Virgin Atlantic. The New York service will be


operated by a 164-seat Boeing 757-200 with 14 fully-flat seats in Delta One (formerly Business Elite), plus Delta Comfort (premium economy) and Main Cabin (economy). Delta offers connecting services


from New York JFK to more than 60 destinations in North America,


Latin America and the Caribbean. Flights are scheduled to depart Manchester at midday and leave New York for the return at 7.10pm. Nadia Clinton, Delta country manager for the UK and Ireland, said: “Manchester is an important


market for Delta as the UK’s biggest regional airport and third-biggest gateway. We’ve had a presence here for 30 years and remain committed to the northwest.” She added: “New York remains the number-one business and


leisure market in the US.” Delta expects more than 50% of UK-originating passengers on the route to stay in New York, with many of the others flying on to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Chicago or Houston. Clinton said: “This flight is the


next step in Delta’s partnership with Virgin Atlantic.” Delta owns 49% of Virgin


Atlantic and the pair operate as joint-venture partners across the Atlantic. Virgin took over the daily service between Manchester and Atlanta, previously operated by Delta, at the end of March. delta.com
