Q Do you have any
particular memories of the AAAs in the past? A I have been lucky enough to have been involved in a number of the judging stages. What is always motivating is watching someone that you met as a young travel adviser developing through their career. We always see a high calibre of talent walking through the door at each judging session.
Q Winning an AAA is a huge honour for the agents on the night. How has it felt when you’ve won awards? A Winning an award is a huge accolade and a real reward for all of the hard work put in by the whole team; it is incredibly
motivating to be recognised for our efforts.
Q Travel Weekly acquired the AAAs as we see such a bright future for agents. Tell us how you see the agency sector evolving in the coming years. A My belief is the high street retailer will enjoy a renaissance and good agents will be those that embrace all channels, immerse themselves in the community and understand their database well. Homeworking will increase. High- spend customers will continue to value the expertise of their agent.
Q The AAAs has changed beyond recognition in the past three years. How has your business changed in that period? A For All Leisure Holidays it has been an incredible period of change. We have merged two businesses into one, with our trade sales team now covering all of
the brands under one umbrella. The change has demonstrated our strength of being adaptable and understanding our partners’ business needs very carefully. We have broadened our distribution of cruise brands to the high street and introduced our touring brands to the cruise specialists.
Q The AAA’s after-party is always a spectacular affair. What song is guaranteed to get you on the dancefloor? A Anybody that has seen me on the dance floor would certainly not recommend a repeat performance!
Q What’s your top tip for an agent attending the AAAs for the first time this year? A Pace yourself! Take a look at all the winners and imagine yourself up there this time next year. Plan what you need to do to be there and follow that plan.
