Polar Circle - Fly and Cruise
The unique Fly and Cruise format of this Antarctica itinerary offers the benefi t of speed and comfort. You will board a four-engine jet and in just under two hours arrive in Antarctica, where your ship will be waiting. You will sail along ice-fi lled fjords and among spectacular icebergs, while enjoying the company of sea birds, penguins, seals and whales. Each day, you will enjoy Zodiac excursions to get close to the wildlife. The goal of this expedition is to sail far south and reach the Polar Circle.
Voyage itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Punta Arenas, Chile, where you are welcomed and transferred to your hotel. Later, gather for a welcome dinner and meet your fellow adventurers.
Day 2 Your Antarctic adventure begins with a two-hour fl ight from Punta Arenas to King George Island, in the South Shetland Islands. Explore the area surrounding Chile’s Frei Station and Russia’s Bellingshausen station, before boarding a Zodiac to embark your expedition vessel.
Days 3 to 8 Sail along ice-fi lled fjords and among spectacular icebergs, while enjoying the company of sea birds, penguins, seals and whales. Visit the South Shetland Islands and the western coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, disembarking by Zodiac each day. In small groups, hike to extraordinary sites and take part in exploratory Zodiac excursions to otherwise inaccessible areas. The goal of the expedition is to sail far south in the attempt of reaching the Polar Circle. The expedition team sets the specifi c voyage route based on local conditions, and takes advantage of the ever-changing opportunities provided by nature. Your expedition may include visits to sites such as Port Lockroy, Petermann Island, Paradise Bay, the Lemaire Channel, Prospect Point or other magnifi cent places.
Day 9 Return to King George Island and bid farewell to Antarctica before boarding the fl ight back to Punta Arenas. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel.
Day 10 After breakfast, you will be transferred to Punta Arenas airport for your onward fl ight.
