Classic Antarctica - Fly and Cruise
The unique Fly and Cruise format of these Antarctica itineraries offers two fantastic benefi ts: speed and comfort. Instead of spending multiple days sailing from South America, you board a four-engine jet and in less than two hours fl y directly to a ship waiting in Antarctica. In doing so, you avoid the often-stormy waters of the Drake Passage and maximise your time wildlife-watching in Antarctica.
Voyage itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Punta Arenas, Chile, and transfer to your hotel. Day 2 Your Antarctic adventure begins with a two-hour fl ight from Punta Arenas to King George Island, South Shetland Islands, where you board your expedition vessel.
Days 3 to 6 Cruise between the South Shetland Islands and along the western coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, sailing along ice-fi lled fjords and among spectacular icebergs. Each day, disembark by Zodiac and explore the landscape. On board the ship, attend an engaging program of presentations, and enjoy spectacular vistas from the panoramic enclosed lounge. You will explore several sites that offer the best possible overview of the varied Antarctic environment and wildlife, such as Paulet Island, Hope Bay, Port Lockroy, Petermann Island, Paradise Bay, Deception Island and the Lemaire Channel.
Day 7 Return to King George Island for your fl ight back to Punta Arenas, where you will be transferred to your hotel.
Day 8 Bid farewell to your fellow expeditioners, as your trip comes to a close.
