Uncover the rugged and wild side of Scotland.
Explore Scotland’s wild islands, home to some of the world’s largest seabird colonies, including adorable puffi ns and noisy Arctic terns. Take to the wildlife-rich waters by Zodiac, keeping your eyes peeled for whales, seals and dolphins. Back on land, discover ancient sites, huge monoliths and remote, picturesque villages. This is a diverse exploration of rugged and remote Scottish islands from a unique vantage point.
Voyage itinerary
Day 1 Board your expedition ship in Oban and embark on your voyage around the Scottish islands. Days 2 to 3 Head to the Hebrides to explore remote lochs, jagged mountain peaks and picturesque villages. Around the Isle of Skye, look for whales, dolphins, otters and seals. You’ll also explore smaller islands, such as Barra, the Isle of Rum and Iona. Days 4 to 6 Island hopping around the Outer Hebrides, fi rst visiting the World Heritage Site of Saint Kilda. The island boasts Britain’s highest sea cliff at 430 m and is home to one of Europe’s most signifi cant seabird breeding colonies. Days 7 to 8 The Shetland Islands are Britain’s most northerly isles lying 160 km off the mainland. In summer, they have nearly 24 hours of daylight. Visit large colonies of seabirds, beautiful nature reserves and Iron Age towers. Days 9 to 10 Fair Isle has a major ornithological research station, and is famous for historic shipwrecks and impressive cliffs. It is a bird watchers’ paradise with species such as fulmars, kittiwakes, guillemots, gannets, shags and puffi ns. Day 11 Arrive in Aberdeen, where your trip comes to an end.
