FLYING THE FLAG FOR YORKSHIRE BUSINESSES

Sheffield-based Magnomatics was one of the companies flying the flag for Yorkshire businesses during The Grand Départ International Business Festival showcasing its innovative MAGSPLIT product (pictured right). The company featured on a stand sponsored by Tata Steel Speciality Steels and The Proving Factory at the event organised by UK Trade & Investment (UKT&I) to drive trade, generate investment and raise the profile of Yorkshire companies. The first time UKT&I has arranged the festival, it coincided with the Tour de France Grand Depart in Yorkshire. The event showcased some of the region’s most innovative businesses. “We were really pleased to have been asked to join Tata and The

showcasing our own company and products but to be supporting business in the region”. A series of exhibitions, seminars,

Proving Factory on the stand at the International Business Festival,” comments business development manager David Latimer. “The Tour de France is really

important to Yorkshire. With all eyes focusing on the region it was the perfect time for us not only to be

briefings and ‘matchmaking’ events were organised to drive both business growth and the economy. Like the Tour de France, it passed through key northern cities including Sheffield, Leeds and York. Magnomatics joined The Proving Factory in 2013 which is part led by Tata Steel Speciality Steels as one of its technology developers, helping to bridge the gap between the companies that develop innovative, low carbon prototypes for the automotive industry and those who can help with the production. www.magnomatics.co.uk

NABTESCO AWARDED FOR QUALITY AND RELIABILITY

Nabtesco Precision Europe has received a Dürr Supplier Award in the category Quality & Reliability. The European subsidiary of Nabtesco, Japanese world market leader for cycloidal gears has for years supplied Dürr with precision gears for paint robots and convinced the jury with solid quality and fast response times. Nabtesco’s high performance reduction gears and servo controls are used for example in systems for

manufacturing semiconductors, in industrial robots – Nabtesco products are used in more than 60% of all industrial robots around the globe – and in machine tools and factory automation. Dürr’s Supplier Award is intended to acknowledge partners whose performance and reliability contribute to the group’s success. “Our suppliers play an

elementary role for our business,” explains chief financial officer

Ralph Heuwing. “A cooperative relationship with suppliers at eye level is very important to us. As a fast growing international enterprise we need reliable partners who are able to deliver worldwide and on schedule. This award is our way of expressing solidarity with strategically valuable suppliers and applauding their performance.” The nomination was based in part on the supplier evaluation of past years. In this connection the supplier’s quality, service and on- time delivery performance were examined. In addition, Dürr developed evaluation standards for the single categories of the award. The criteria include innovative product improvements, technology leadership and constant cost consciousness on the part of the supplier. This formed the basis for selection of the award winners by inter-departmental teams. www.koehler-partner.de
