From the professional Warrior

drum handling equipment improves workplace safety

anually transporting and decanting substances from drums is a physically exhausting and time consuming task for employees. Manipulating and manoeuvring heavy and unwieldy drums, which often contain hazardous or toxic chemicals, can also be a dangerous and inefficient practice. Consequently, the use of drum handling equipment is now commonplace within many industrial processes. Utilising appropriate drum handling equipment within a workplace ensures that potentially dangerous tasks become quick, efficient and, most importantly, totally safe for the employees involved. European Handling’s proven and popular Warrior range of drum handling equipment includes models that have been designed and manufactured to meet the toughest applications and environments.

Energy-efficient modular chargers promote uptime and reduce costs

flexibility, efficiency and reliability with reduced downtime, costs and carbon footprint across a wide range of materials handling, automatic guided vehicle and motive power applications. They reduce energy consumption by up to 25 per cent compared with conventional chargers and can cut charging times by up to two hours. Single-phase and three-phase modules are available in a range of configurations with outputs from 12 to 80V for use with any batteries with a corresponding charging profile including models from the Hawker XFC™ and Hawker Waterless® ranges. The chargers are configured using a number of identical power modules so that performance can be matched to the specific application requirement. This allows installations to be optimised to take full advantage of all of the energy-efficiency and battery-life benefits of high- frequency charging. Each module is a standalone unit which is managed independently by the control board to deliver peak efficiency at all times. This modular approach minimises the risk of charger failure.

art Door Systems, the Newcastle upon Tyne- based specialist door company, has launched a high security shutter which has been tested to LPS1175 SR4 issue 7 standards by the Loss Prevention Council Board, part of the British Research Establishment. “In simple terms we have designed and manufactured a roller shutter system, which can be up to eight metres high and nine metres wide, that can resist attack by a range of tools from axes to powered dis cutters for 20 minutes without yielding,” says HDS’s chairman, Doug Hart. “To get to this issue 7 level of accreditation at our first attempt speaks volumes for our design and engineering capability. We are only the second company to achieve this the standard in the UK and we have already sold our first door to a user who must remain anonymous for security reasons.” Mr Hart adds: “The damage to the door, known as Terror Screen, during testing was staggering and yet it did not allow break-through. This is the purpose of the door – to make access impossible within a certain time which,

in

combination with perimeter security and surveillance systems, provides valuable protection for people and property.”
