HOW TO IMPROVE FLEET management and mobile supply chain
Logistics leaders partner to improve the visibility, accuracy and control of transportation and order fulfilment processes, resulting in improved operational efficiencies

sotrak, provider of vehicle tracking and telematics solutions and Airclic,
provider of cloud-based solutions that enhance visibility and control throughout the mobile supply chain, presented their integrated portfolio of mobile supply chain solutions that automate and optimise mobile fleet and supply chain logistics processes at this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show.
Through its alliance and partnership
with Isotrak Airclic offers complementary solutions that are proven, simple to deploy and can quickly deliver a compelling return on investment (ROI).
OPTIMISE FUEL CONSUMPTION With a focus on the transportation and logistics, food services and retail distribution industries, the integrated solutions of Isotrak and Airclic remove inefficient paper processing costs, reduce shrinkage on delivery, help to optimise fuel consumption and carbon emissions and improve customer service through
real-time visibility. The powerful combination of these solutions has already proven successful for companies in Europe and North America.
AUTOMATED PRODUCT FLOW Airclic’s cloud-based Perform products help optimise and automate the flow of goods across the last mile of the mobile supply chain and cross docking operations – giving logistics professionals much needed visibility and control. Perform products enable customers in multiple industries to eliminate paper and paper-based processes, record what goods and assets were received, staged and loaded onto a vehicle and document what was delivered and when, at every delivery point. The ability to manage exceptions in real-time provides accuracy to the invoice process, helping to maximise the customer experience. Perform products are currently used by more than 300 customers in over 22 countries.
“Through our partnership with Isotrak enterprises can now have an accurate and real-time view of two critical elements of their business – the vehicle and the product on the vehicle,” explains Pól Sweeney, managing director Europe and CTO of Airclic. “This combination enables accurate asset tracking and cost savings across a wide number of operational areas within the clients’ businesses, maximises the positive experience that their customers have and brings a competitive edge to our clients that helps drive business growth and bottom line improvements.”

LATEST 360° CAMERA SYSTEM REDUCES COLLISIONS FOR LORRY FLEET
Marks & Spencer is trialling the latest 360° camera system from Brigade and technology partner ASL Vision to further improve safety on its lorry fleet. As systems offering a surround view in a single image become more widespread on rigid trucks, M&S wants to find out if the benefits can be extended to articulated vehicles. An initial trial was set up using the Backeye360 Elite system from
Brigade Electronics with powerful software from ASL Vision at its core and the trial is now to be extended to cover 15 vehicles. Backeye360 Elite uses four ultrawide-angle camera lenses mounted on
the vehicle to capture all blind spots. Simultaneous digital images from the cameras are processed and ‘video stitched’ resulting in a real time, ‘bird’s-eye’ view delivered to the driver’s monitor. The surround view in a single image makes it easier and quicker for the driver to assess possible hazards and take corrective action if required. It is vitally important to keep improving safety standards; blind spots are a hazard around all large vehicles, contributing to repair costs and downtime for the fleet as well as associated insurance costs. Additionally, the emotional impact has to be considered if personal
injury becomes an issue. A great deal has been done to eliminate risk from the M&S fleet but with more than 50% of collisions happening during slow speed manoeuvring or with parked or stationary objects, more can be done. “My first impression of the technology was that it must be able to help
us,” says Tony Whitehouse, fleet manager at M&S “but of course the only measure of this will be if we see a significant reduction in the frequency and cost of collisions that we currently experience.” Brigade’s marketing manager Mark Nicholson comments: “The 360° view of a rigid vehicle presented in a single image makes it easier and

quicker for a driver to assess potential hazards. It is great that a company like M&S is willing to work with us to develop these safety benefits for articulated vehicles too.”
