Oxygen Analysers in Industrial Nitrogen Gas Applications

industries, N

itrogen gas is the most commonly used of industrial gases. It is used within a wide range of including chemicals,

pharmaceuticals,

steelmaking and other metals refining. A selection of metal based nitrogen applications include annealing, sintering, brazing and hardening and tempering. By using nitrogen based process systems, product quality and consistency is greatly improved and the metal protected from oxidation.

Benefits also include

increased production in the form of faster start-ups and fewer process interruptions. Cambridge Sensotec’s Rapidox zirconia oxygen gas analysers are designed to measure ppm levels of oxygen which make them ideal for nitrogen gas based applications. Measurement of residual oxygen levels is critical in order to maintain a consistent nitrogen atmosphere. The presence of oxygen can increase the chances of oxidisation resulting in a compromise in quality in parts produced. By using the Rapidox gas analyser in the process, users can save on costly part rejects or failures. The Rapidox range of gas analysers offer fast, accurate and reliable oxygen measurements ensuring quality and efficiency.

anner International has introduced two new Hydra-Cell® Dosing Performance Pump ranges with mechanical flow rate adjustment. Because seal-less Hydra-Cell pumps are true positive displacement pumps, flow rate is directly proportionate to input shaft speed and virtually independent of system discharge pressures. Very precise, infinite adjustment of shaft speed is achieved through a simple manual adjust hand wheel. The variable speed gearboxes operate on the elasto- hydrodynamic principle, producing output torque by means of a traction fluid. This removes the possibility of mechanical slippage between input and output, potentially experienced with friction type variators. The Hydra-Cell G03/G13 dosing range accommodates repeatable, steady flow requirements up to 310 litres per hour at pressures up to 100 bar and flows up to 490 litres per hour at pressures up to 70 bar. The Hydra-Cell G10 dosing range accommodates repeatable flow requirements up to 732 litres per hour at pressures up to 103 bar and flows up to 1470 litres per hour at pressures below 50 bar. These mechanically adjustable dosing pumps are ideal for use in ATEX Zone 1 and 21 when coupled to compatible, explosion proof motors which can also be provided.

New version makes PSL Datatrack even more indispensable

A

new 2014 version has been released for the PSL Datatrack production management and business administration software which deals with all management and administration steps from initial quotation through to invoice.

This new version makes

investment in the system even more attractive for manufacturers of sub-contract and make-to-order items, particularly for those in the

aerospace and other high traceability industry sectors. Highly commended in the 2014 MWP Awards, PSL Datatrack's new features have been created through market research and collaboration with existing users via PSL’s wish list. The new CRM/Task module is a versatile sales, marketing and task management tool that provides the foundations for improvements for all customer focused and background administration.

ABB’s new IRB 1200 can help make machines 15 percent smaller and 10 percent faster

A

BB has expanded its family of small robots with the addition of the IRB 1200. Featuring a compact design, the IRB1200 is primarily aimed at materials handling and machine tending applications demanding flexibility, ease of use, compactness and short cycle times while still maintaining large working envelopes.

As a complete solution, the IRB 1200 excels in situations that require a compact package without sacrificing working range or functionality. With no offset in axis two, it can achieve a longer stroke than other robots, enabling it to be placed very close to the work piece and still be functional. One particular benefit of this long stroke is that it allows for a much more compact installation when the robot is mounted on the ceiling inside a small cell, such as in electronics machining or polishing applications. The IRB 1200 comes in two variants which can handle a wide

range of applications and are cost effective due to commonality of parts. The 700 mm reach variant can carry a payload of up to 7 kg, while the longer reach 900 mm variant can carry up to 5 kg. Both variants can be mounted at any angle and come with IP 40 protection as standard. IP 67 protection is also available as an option. The IRB 1200 has been designed to be easy to integrate. Electrical and air connections can be made to the robot via side ports or an underline option. In addition, an Ethernet port makes it easy to integrate with other equipment. These connections are routed internally on the robot from very close to the wrist flange all the way to the foot, thus enhancing the compactness of the package.

Another key feature is the use of smooth surfaces, making the IRB1200 easy to keep clean and maintain in environments such as CNC machine tending and materials handling in the food industry.

New Fluke Preventive

Maintenance portal F

luke has developed a new Preventive Maintenance portal on its UK web site to provide expert guidance to industrial maintenance engineers and technicians on how to maximise plant uptime and minimise downtime. Just one of a series of ‘Solution Centers’ which contain a library of information and programs, the content will be frequently updated with new information, so users are advised to add www.fluke.co.uk/xxxx to their favourites list. The Fluke Preventive Maintenance portal provides advice on constant condition monitoring in order to maximise component life, track equipment wear trends and reduce downtime by identifying problems before they occur. There are examples of how Fluke tools,

from precision

analysers to troubleshooters, loggers and recorders, can help cut plant energy costs and minimise downtime and production stops. A short video looks at the application of LaserSharp® Auto Focus thermal cameras and vibration meters to check the status of motors.
