CAROUSEL-BASED STORAGE SYSTEM
INTERNAL FIT-OUT FOR ELECTRICAL SUPPLIER
Dynamic Storage Systems (DSS) has finalised a comprehensive internal fit out for SJD Electrical at the company’s new headquarters in Milton Keynes. Steady growth meant that the company required
additional office space and DSS was commissioned to design and install a complete office complex. Covering a ground floor area of 110 sq metres, the first task for the DSS team was to design an internal layout that made best use of the available space. The next stage involved the stripping out of the existing internal construction used by the building’s previous occupiers. Having exposed the internal shell of the building work could begin on the installation phase of the project. The most significant element in maximising
available space was the incorporation of a mezzanine floor that runs the full length of the building. This created not only an unobstructed first floor storage area of more than 75 sq metres but the structure for
a ceiling covering the ground floor office layout. The fit out contract covered the design, supply of materials and installation of the mezzanine floor and a first floor office plus the creation of the ground floor layout comprising reception area, general office, two project offices and a fully fitted kitchen. “We desperately needed extra space to support our
continuing expansion and Dynamic Storage Systems came up with a fantastic design to make maximum use of the space we had,” says director Ruth Devine. ‘They handled everything including all the aspects relating to building regulations, the stripping out, partitioning, doors, glazing and decoration – a very professional one stop shop.”

Jungheinrich has introduced two storage and retrieval products to its comprehensive range of logistics systems. Lift Racking (LRK) and Paternoster Racking (PRK) are based on proven carousel technology. Revealed for the first time at CeMAT these systems based on the ‘goods-to- man’ principle have been developed to offer a space-saving storage and efficient order picking solution. “These storage solutions perfectly
complement our portfolio of intralogistics products and services and can be integrated with equipment within our extensive intralogistics systems range,” says Steve Richmond, director of Jungheinrich UK’s systems and projects division.

wire, bolt-free construction, it is an extremely versatile modular shelving system said to offer an unrivalled strength-to-weight ratio. Available in 27 standard shelf sizes, is easily height adjustable to provide individual shelf loadings of 300kg UDL. Four standard post size options increase the system’s flexibility which may be further enhanced by the addition of castors to create mobile bays. ColdRoom+ shelving system is widely used in hygiene
sensitive environments including the food and drink industry, hospitals, laboratories and pharmaceutical production areas. For these applications, the shelving’s anti corrosive and anti bacterial properties are invaluable. This is achieved by applying a zinc substrate to the mild steel wire base which is then coated with polyester powder resin and hard baked to create a hard-wearing corrosion resistant finish that is guaranteed for 10 years. The process is applied to all shelves and posts, ensuring total protection that lasts up to five times longer than a traditional nylon coating. Furthermore, the finish contains 0.2% Ultra-Fresh CA-16 which in quantitative bacterial tests showed bacterial count reductions of more than 99.9% against life- threatening bacteria including Streptococcus, E-Coli and Salmonella. “This shelving has proved very popular over the past few years and we expect the recent upgrade and
expansion of the range to be welcomed by existing and new customers alike,” comments sales director Mark Richardson. “ColdRoom+ shelving can be safely used in chillers, cold rooms and walk-in freezers at temperatures down to -28°C. We hold the range in stock so delivery to site can be made within 72 hours.”

EOS Innovation is a French company which developed e-vigilante, a robot dedicated to the surveillance of warehouses and industrial plants. Mobile, autonomous and polyvalent, it increases efficiency in detecting anomalies. The robot runs either random patrols or selected ones within a specific perimeter. It optimises alerts; when the robot detects an anomaly the security agent is instantly alerted. He can control e-vigilante and command the robot remotely to identify clearly the anomaly in order to take appropriate action. Costs of security missions to watch indoor warehouses are raising although reactivity remains poor and

management of security agents is always tight. The security manager in charge of the security of
the goods for clients are currently using cameras, CCTV and security agents to watch warehouses. These solutions are not fully optimised in term of costs, reactivity and human resources. In addition, to improve their business they need to strengthen the security of warehouses in order to offer the best security solutions to meet with their client requirements while they have to face budget restraints.
