NORTHERN MANUFACTURING 2014 PREVIEW

SHOWCASE FOR UK MANUFACTURING

Flooring advisor Flowcrete will furnish ideas for high- performance industrial floor surfaces

Following its debut last year, the Northern Manufacturing & Electronics Show is returning to Manchester’s EventCity 1-2 October 2014 and attracting interest from across the UK

U

K manufacturing industry in the 21st Century is predominately based on

SMEs which are acutely focused on the practicalities of winning new customers and finding new ways to operate as efficiently as possible. So it is refreshing to see an exhibition that works just as hard to create a platform for these enterprises as it does with attracting the big-brand firms. Although there are some prominent names in evidence, small and medium size companies account for a high percentage of the 200+ exhibitors expected at Northern Manufacturing & Electronics 2014 and it is this vibrant slice of British industrial enterprise gathered into one easily- accessible venue that is a key factor in the show’s appeal. Although the Northern show which debuted last year has yet to match the 800 plus exhibitors of the more established Southern event, it is catching up fast. Already larger than the first Southern show at launch, the exhibitor list is expected to grow by a further 20% this year. A small selection of the products and services on show in 2014 include CNC machine tools and machining centres, robotics and automation, electronic components, CAD/CAM tools, advanced adhesives, fasteners and joining technology, laser cutting, packaging solutions, labelling and marking, pressings, fabrications and enclosures, metrology and test equipment, coating and finishing,

motors, drives and controls and handling and storage solutions.

TECHNOLOGY TRAILS Within this diverse marketplace Technology Trails allow visitors to make the most efficient use of their time. Crucially, because there are so many products and disciplines represented under one roof, it is possible for visitors to meet a whole range of providers in the space of a single visit. Following the Aerospace trail, for example, visitors will encounter electronics assembly specialists along with precision machining and components. Visitors travelling to Northern
