Mark Bosman Fellow co-founder Bosman is Chief Commercial Officer. He focuses on business development and identifying new market and client opportunities for BetTech.
Bosman is an entrepreneur with a background in the fast-moving consumer goods industry. He has previously held roles at Red Bull and L’Oreal.
Anli Kotzé Prior to joining BetTech Chief Executive Officer Anli Kotzé worked for Ladbrokes, where she launched the South African arm of the business, as General Manager of
Ladbrokes.co.za.
Kotzé is an experienced betting and gaming industry professional having also worked for Betfair, based in its Malta office.
Is there a player cross-over between land-based an online sports-betting players?
There will certainly be some overlap, but not a cannibalisation of revenues. In South Africa, the traditional land-based premises have a very loyal and regular customer base. Online sports betting is largely appealing to a new generation and demographic of players – the same will be true of casino and other forms of gaming in future.
What is available to players and is there much variation in the types of bets on offer from one operator to the next?
The offering in South Africa is very strong when it comes to bets and markets. As the market had developed, so has the product, which has become increasingly localised. Some of the big interna-
tional operators struggled in South Africa because they did not – or could not – offer customers as wide a bet selection on domestic sports and events as with international fixtures. This locali- sation must be a fundamental consideration.
The leading sites that make use of a good soft- ware platforms continuously stay up to date with the newest available offerings and, as such, the differentiator is becoming more about price and customer service as opposed to having a unique market or bet.
