PAGCOR Chairman Cristino Naguiat Jr said: “Even if they finish it they still cannot open it if they do not have a local partner. Before opening they should abide by all Philippine laws.”

The US$2bn integrated hotel and casino resort is due to open in Entertainment City in Manila Bay by March 2015. Legislation dictates that an own- ership model must be in place of 60/40 in favour of investors originating from the Philippines.

Okada’s Eagle I Landholdings and Century Properties are expected to battle it out in court after Mr. Okada terminated a deal for Century to be a real estate partner in Manila Bay Resorts. The Japanese billionaire believes the project in Entertainment City will open on time despite a legal dispute with Century Properties Group.

The Okada group stated: “Our construction is pro- gressing according to schedule. Currently, this construction includes the hotel tower and casino floors. We project mass hiring of operational staff during our planned opening in the third quarter of 2015. In connection with the issue on the allega- tions of Century Properties Group Inc. (CPGI), we regret that the development turned out the way it did. We wish to say that there have been no finan- cial transactions with CPGI and the Okada group.”

The Okada group added: “Our goal is to contribute to the Philippine economy through our invest- ments in PAGCOR city and generate employment to thousands of Filipinos, during the construction phase and the operational aspect of the project.”

GTECH’s MarginMaker platform supports Betfred in Australia

AUSTRALIA GTECH has announced that it has been selected to provide the tech- nology platform to support UK sports-book operator Betfred’s launch of its new Australian interactive sports betting opera- tion.

GTECH’s MarginMaker platform supported the launch of Betfred’s sportsbook product in May 2014. The initial sports betting launch included the mobile sportsbook, with online and racebook launches to follow in the coming months.

GTECH has been the primary supplier to Betfred in the UK for more than 10 years. Betfred established operations in Sydney and Darwin under a Northern Territory Gaming Commission license.

“GTECH is very excited to extend our partnership with Betfred into the Australian market. This is the first such foreign venture we have worked on together, and we

hope it is the first of many,” said GTECH International Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer EMEA Declan Harkin.

“We tasked GTECH and Betfred’s front-end development agency, Degree 53, in developing a new stand-alone system with a local- ized offering for the Australian market. They both rose to this challenge and delivered a sports mobile product on time and with- in budget, working seamlessly with the Betfred teams in both the UK and Australia to very strict deadlines, through every time zone and continually going that extra mile to ensure the product was ready,” said Betfred Australia Managing Director Luke Brill.

“We are delighted to have now launched our sports-only mobile site at m.betfred.com.au for the FIFA World Cup. This is the first of a multi-phased approach to the Australian market. The mobile site will soon be followed by stand- alone apps and then our full web- site and with racing,” Brill added.
