When you think about Amsterdam, the first things that tend to spring to mind are wooden clogs, tulips and windmills. But there is so much more to this city to discover.
Museums, gin and barges You can’t walk far without finding an architectural masterpiece in Amsterdam. It’s the city’s flare for showcasing its heritage, yet remaining cool and modern that attracts the crowds. Whether you want a fast- paced city break or a relaxing time, Amsterdam is the place to go. From museums and barges along the city’s plethora of canals to gin distilleries and flower markets – you name it, Amsterdam has it. Recommend first-timers rent a
bike and explore this fine city on two wheels.
Take the Canal Bus Another great way to explore the city is on the waters surrounding it – and with 165 canals there are a number of options, including the Canal Bus that operates three fixed routes and costs €20 for 24 hours. Attraction World offers an open boat canal cruise lasting 75 minutes for £15 or a dinner cruise for £75 for adults and £50 for children. For those on a whistle-stop
tour, recommend Do Something Different’s Amsterdam and Holland Pass, which offers fast- track entry to busy attractions such as the Van Gogh Museum and Artis Royal Zoo. The passes start at £28.
