Virgin Atlantic will begin new routes next year
Virgin unveils new Belfast-Orlando and Glasgow-Las Vegas services

Virgin Atlantic will launch flights between Belfast and Orlando for the first time in June next year. The airline is also introducing a
direct service from Glasgow to Las Vegas in autumn 2015. The Belfast-Orlando service will be the first time Virgin has operated a route from Northern Ireland. It will run four departures, starting on June 25. There will also
be four flights from Glasgow between September and October. The first service will operate on September 10. Both of these routes
on Virgin Atlantic to two of our most popular leisure destinations next summer.”

EasyJet opens bases in Schiphol and Porto EasyJet will open a base at Schiphol in spring 2015, basing three aircraft at the Amsterdam airport, to which it has flown since 1996. The carrier hopes to offer more morning departures to serve business passengers. EasyJet has also opened a base at Francisco de Sa Carneiro airport in Porto, where it is basing two aircraft.

Qatar places $18.9bn order for 50 new aircraft
Qatar Airways has finalised an $18.9 billion order for 50 Boeing 777-9Xs.
The Gulf carrier also committed to 50 additional 777-9X aircraft, which would increase the value of the order to $37.7 billion. Boeing claims the 777-9X will
be 12% more fuel efficient than any competing aircraft. Production will begin in 2017, with the first deliveries in 2020. The airline’s chief executive, Akbar Al Baker, said: “Qatar
Airways continuously builds upon its successful fleet programme, and this latest announcement demonstrates the quality equipment we acquire to deliver on our signature five-star service. “The Boeing 777 is the
backbone of our fleet and is highly amenable to the standards Qatar Airways upholds.” Qatar operates services from
Heathrow, Manchester and Edinburgh.
