Tourism talk “The Maldives had an encouragingly positive first quarter, with visitor numbers up 11.2% on last year. While most tourist
arrivals are from China, the UK is our third-largest market, with 32,759 visitors arriving between January and April. A recent survey revealed that over half of all visitors to the Maldives come to relax, and 40% choose an all-inclusive holiday. Our unique ‘one island, one resort’ concept gives tourists the chance to escape from the pressures of life, while frequent, direct connections from Europe via major airline hubs enable easy access to the destination. “In April we appointed press agencies to help promote the country to our major markets. We’ll be exhibiting at WTM in November, which will further increase awareness about the islands and what we have to offer: from world-class diving and water sports to cultural pursuits and luxurious spas. Plus, of course, our beautiful beaches.” Mohamed Adam, Director, Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation
