“Distances between some of the

islands can be vast so agents need to consult with experts when booking inter-island connections, to ensure minimum wait times”

OWEN DAVIES, MARKETING DIRECTOR, JUST SEYCHELLES B

outique hotels, Créole guesthouses and self-catering properties are the current focus of the Seychelles Tourist Offi ce’s

‘Seychelles Secrets’ campaign, designed to show that the destination is not just for high-rollers. With small hotels and guest houses on Mahé and Praslin costing €50-€200 a night, compared to €275-€1,050 for a luxury hotel, the tourist offi ce is highlighting that they provide great value for money. Owen Davies, Marketing Director at Just

Seychelles, says his clients are stretching their budget and length of stay by combining less expensive boutique hotels with luxury hotels such as the Banyan Tree or Raffl es for the last few days of their stay. “There is such a variety of accommodation that by combining different types of properties people can stay longer and make their budget go further.” He adds that clients travelling outside the peak holiday season can also

take advantage of some excellent offers. Tara Taylor, Product Manager for Elegant

Resorts, encourages clients to stay in a number of hotels and explore different islands. “The Seychelles needs to be discovered. During a recent fam trip there we came across some real hidden gems.” Premier Holidays recently launched a trade campaign of tactical offers with prices starting from £1,449 for 10 nights at the three-star-plus Berjaya Beau Vallon Beach Resort on Mahé. Nikki Hain, Product Manager, says sales are on a par with last year but the campaign is stimulating interest in the Seychelles both as a single-centre holiday and combined with stopovers in the Middle East or South Africa tours. The majority of travellers fl y with Etihad, via Abu Dhabi, or Emirates, via Dubai, so stopovers in the Middle East are becoming a regular feature. However, Air Seychelles withdrew its direct fl ights from the UK in 2012.
