Baskin-Robbins release single store franchises in the UK

n Baskin-Robbins is pleased to announce the release of single-store franchise opportunities in the UK. The single-store investments require

around £75,000 of liquid capital for a total launch cost of £150,000, 50 per cent of which can usually be funded by a high-street bank.

Jim Johnstone, Baskin-Robbins’ UK general manager, explains: “We have a great team here in the UK dedicated to helping franchisees grow their sales and

profitability and, with the introduction of our single-store franchises, we are opening up the quick-service restaurant market to many more people.” Since it was founded in 1945, Baskin- Robbins has produced over 1,000 ice cream recipes, frozen drinks and ice-cream cakes and sells in excess of 300 million scoops of ice cream each week globally. “The single-store opportunity also gives the team at Baskin-Robbins the chance to see how the owner operates

their store and to see what help they might need to go on to become great multi-store owners if they wish to do so – so it’s a win-win for both parties. Jim concludes: “We can only ensure that our brand continues to grow across the UK by getting the right franchisees on board and giving them the best support possible. Finding the right store location is key to a successful launch and each franchisee has a dedicated support manager to help with this.”

The specific skills required to set up and operate a business vary greatly from sector to sector. For some franchises, interpersonal skills are essential for promoting the business, managing staff and selling. For others, a more hands-on approach is required at first and, if particular skills are necessary in the day- to-day running of a business, rest assured a good franchisor will offer a thorough

training programme prior to launching. A franchisor will also have systems in place for dealing with aspects such as finance and stock, so the worry setting up these procedures can induce is eliminated. The only attributes absolutely fundamental to running a profitable franchise are dedication, a good work ethic and professionalism.
