Mr. Electric helps customers save money and creates returns for franchisees

eading management franchise Mr. Electric has found a unique way to create sustainable profit and growth for its franchisees despite the current economic quagmire. Jeff Longley,


franchisee for Mr. Electric Birmingham North, explains that the brand’s diverse energy-saving products have helped to boost his business and profits by over 40 per cent in the past three years. He says that offering customers a means to save money in these difficult economic times isn’t a hard-fought sales exercise because it just simply makes good sense. “As soon as they realise that their return on investment is only nine months in some cases, then they understand it’d be silly not


to buy the product and save themselves a lot of money in the long run.” Mr. Electric has exclusivity over some of its energy-saving products including ‘IceCOLD’ – a synthetic solution added to cooling systems that has proved its worth by delivering average savings of 20 per cent. Customers, however, often want these savings on a proven, individual basis. This would normally be a problem, as collecting energy consumption from devices can be a complex and timely exercise, but Mr. Electric’s head, Philip Milburn, has came up with a solution – fitting data loggers to customers’ premises and thereby providing proof for the energy-saving claims. “Sometimes the claims do sound too


good to be true but with the data loggers we can show customers this isn’t the case; our energy saving products can save them a lot of money.” Jeff has had great success with this method as it not only allows him to prove the fantastic energy-saving claims, but also indicates whether further customer savings can be made. This means that, in the long run, the customer saves more money and – crucially – Jeff makes more profit. n
