Take the Clare test Cummins expands it generator range

Pride of place on the Cummins Power Generation stand will go to the manufacturer’s new C100 D2R model, a 100kVA Stage IIIa compliant generator, specially designed for the hire market. It complements existing units from 150-300kVA which were displayed at last year’s Show. Cummins says that one of the main strengths of the

products is that they are fully integrated, as it makes the engines, alternators, controls and related sub- systems, which also facilitates service and support. The C100 D2R can be fitted with a choice of

200-litre or 400-litre tanks, typically giving 10 and 20 hours’ running time at 75% loading, and the quoted noise level is 66.7 dB(A) at 7m. Three control options are available. Cummins recently held a special launch event for the machine at its factory in Ramsgate, which has a production area covering 39,000m2

with

130 manufacturing staff, plus ten test cells. Richard Mellard (pictured) of Cummins’ Rental Power Division demonstrated the reliability of the 100kVA machine by starting it from cold and placing it immediately under full load, with the unit running steadily and maintaining constant

output throughout.

Clare’s range of electrical equipment testers for the tool hire industry includes the SafeCheck 8. Testing functions can be initiated manually or in automatic mode using simple controls with a large display providing an immediate indication of pass/fail results. In line with the recommendations of the HAE’s electrical safety code, the unit carries out the required electrical safety tests on hire tools. Also available is the compact bench-top B255, which enables a full range of tests to be undertaken, including earth/ground bond and hi-pot/flash testing alongside load, run and leakage analysis.

Boss Cabins will display its latest Hybrid ‘Big Space’ mobile welfare cabin, a VCA-approved, road-towable unit designed to provide seating for up to 12 people, and which weighs 2000kg. The Hybrid system is configured so that the 6kVA generator operates only when under load, and for short periods of time, with the integral batteries providing power for lighting, heating and charging of laptops and similar equipment.

The unit is designed to be hard-wearing and to withstand the rigours of construction site usage, with wear pads fitted on the back and ram props supplied as standard. The interior also has surfaces that are easy to clean.
