The tool hire operation also operates a flourishing sales business, aided by an extensive showroom display. “We ask people about the work they are doing and we direct them to the accessories and consumables they will need,” said Dave. “Many are also attracted by our displays of clothing, boots and other workwear, and they soon realise they can get virtually everything they need from us. We have had customers who came in just for a Stihl saw, and we have ended up holding the door open for them when they leave with their hands full of other items they have bought. We know where to buy good products very competitively, and we can beat virtually any Internet price.”
Mark Love adds that the business outlook generally is extremely positive. “There are many sites now opening, or re-opening, in and around cities like York, Hull, Leeds and Bradford, including projects associated with shopping centres, flood defences and road infrastructure. Work is expected to start on a new gas fired power station in Knottingley in 2015, and there is considerable interest in
building new biofuel energy plants in our region. This should mean steady demand and increasing business opportunities for both our tool and plant hire operations.”
