develop 100 ENVISION ENTERTAINMENT

ENVISION IS ONE of the youngest outfits in this round- up of bankable European start- ups. The studio was formed in July this year by Dirk Ringe and a number of his colleagues that were all formerly employed at EA Phenomic, which was closed that same month. While at EA, CEO Ringe and

his team created titles such as the SpellForce series, BattleForge, Lord of Ultima and the free-to- play Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances (pictured). Among its 25 staff are creative

director Volker Wertich, COO Boris Kunkel producer Marco Lohlein and technical director Mark Novolozhilov.

EXOBYTE

RICHARD WOODS HAS been writing games in his spare time since the days of magazine code listings for the ZX Specturm, but it was only last year when he went into business with his wife Jennifer that his development journey began for real. The pair’s first release was

Cherry Chaser (pictured), a slot machine game for Android that has been downloaded more than 1.1m times. The game’s popularity prompted a sequel, Super Snake Slot Machine, which is currently one of the Top Ten Paid apps in its category on Google Play. Exobyte isn’t just about slot machines, though: it will soon release Plasma Duel, an air hockey game.
