Company Background

In 1870, Florenz Sartorius went into business by setting up a precision mechanical workshop. His pioneering invention – the short-beam analytical balance – revolutionized work in research labs. In 1927, with the membranes invented by the chemistry Nobel Prize Laureate Richard Zsigmondy, Sartorius established the basis for the development of membrane filtration – and for today’s bioprocess business at Sartorius. To this day, weighing and filtration are the core technologies of Sartorius’s wide product portfolio.

Markets Served

Our key customers are from the biotech, chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries, as well as from public research institutes and laboratories. Sartorius has its own production facilities in Europe, Asia and America as well as sales subsidiaries and local commercial agencies in more than 110 countries.

Products, Services & Capabilities

The Lab Products & Services segment focuses on the manufacture of laboratory instruments, particularly lab weighing with its premium line of lab balances: Secura®, Quintix®, Practum® and Cubis®. Sartorius also offers full-scale Instrument service that is widely used in laboratories. Production processes may be similar, but no two installations are ever the same. That is why Sartorius not only offers an extremely wide range of products and services but, by way of individual consultation, also develops solutions that are custom-designed for the specific application. “Turning Science into Solutions” is our primary focus.
