The salon treatment rooms have a contemporary feel.
treatment review:
After booking a short break at Tregenna Castle, I was eager to try the hotel’s facilities including the beauty salon
offerings. After perusing the salon’s menu, I decided that my nails were in need of some well-earned holiday TLC so opted for an OPI GelColor treatment – one of the salon’s most popular client requests.

What are themost in-demand treatment requests?
“We offer a range of OPI treatments with the most popular being OPI GelColor. It provides the perfect application lasting up to three weeks and instantly dries in seconds. One of our newest treatments is the Thalgo Eye MassageMask which is highly effective at tackling a multitude of concerns including wrinkles, dark circles and puffiness in as little as 30 minutes.”
When considering adding a new product range to the salon, what factors in the decisionmaking process?
“It’s important to us that we use a product range that will suit all skin types and concerns. It needs to give the best possible results, whether for body and face treatments or manicures and pedicures.
Looking ahead, what does the future hold for the salon?
“Each year the business is building and progressing in every way. Our ultimate goal is to have our very own luxury Spa within the hotel. We’re also currently creating a new and exciting signature treatment.
“We are fortunate that the hotel’s managers are great and help with new ideas for the salon, and the hotel’s owners are a lovely family and visit regularly making sure all staff are happy and welcoming fresh concepts.”
What would be your one piece of advice to pass onto other therapists?
“To aim high and believe anything is possible! Enjoy your job and do your best.”
Upon my arrival, I was warmly welcomed by Ilona, the salon’s manager and also introduced to my therapist, Zoe, who would be performing my treatment. Even though the salon is situated within a historic location, once you step through the salon’s doors it has a lovely contemporary feel with calming colour tones and modern touches all around.
After my tour, Zoe and I made our way to the salon’s dedicated nail treatment room. Once settled and comfortable, we then discussed nail shades and browsed through the OPI colours on offer. I opted for I Have a Herring Problem, a gorgeous teal toned greyish-blue with golden shimmer that would easily complement my holiday wardrobe and beyond. Firstly, Zoe prepped my nails by pushing back my cuticles and then expertly filed my nails into the desired shape. Incidentally during our time together and chatting away, I discovered that Zoe participated in theWorldSkills competition eventually becoming a UK regional finalist, so with those credentials I knew I was in excellent hands.

The application of the gel base, colour and sealant then followed, and after curing for a final time, Zoe applied a finishing touch of OPI’s cuticle oil AvoPlex and my nails were ready. They looked fabulous, glossy and healthy.A perfect accessory for my time in St Ives and even as I write this back home, the colour is still going strong!
