HEAD OF PARTNERS & STRATEGY, O2 WHOLESALE

What got you into telecoms?

I have always been interested in computers and problem solving, which prompted me to do my degree in computer science and applied mathematics. From there I came to London and was offered a role at The Cloud (now part of BskyB). I’ve been fortunate to work with some great leaders, managers and like-minded people in the early stages of my career. I have learnt a great deal from these people and this was helpful in my early days at O2 (or BE as it was known in those days).

What do you bring to the role that’s new and different?

I have been part of the O2 channel since the beginning which has really helped to provide continuity for our partners and customers. I’d like to think I bring a little fun and focus to the role and our channel. The team I have and work alongside are fantastic and are true to the O2 way of thinking which is to put the customer at the heart of everything we do. I’m not easily daunted by things and I think I was,

and still am, really excited by what my role and the team can bring to the channel.

What are your current priorities in terms of strategy? My priorities are to continue delivering our services to our partners and aim to bring them new and exciting products across fixed and mobile networks.

Describe the culture you nurture within the O2 Wholesale division We are a team that have a solid work hard play hard ethos. We make sure we give everything to keep customers happy as well as enjoying the camaraderie that the channel brings. It’s important to make sure we are available at events and visible enough so our partners know we are always focused on the channel.

How do you plan to build on existing channel partner relationships? Focus on what is important, and that is the partner and their needs. If we continue to do the simple things like deliver quality products at a fair price, along with

excellent service and people then we should be able to continue building fantastic channel relationships.

How do you relax when not working? I enjoy playing most ball sports on the weekend... touch rugby, tennis and golf. I also love watching sport and just chilling.

What talent do you wish you had? A musical one, piano or guitar

Name three ideal dinner guests Steve Jobs – cruel, creative and a genius; Richard Branson – I love his entrepreneurial spirit and I’m sure he must have some great party stories; and Mick Jagger for the sheer fun factor

How would you like to be remembered? A person who is always approachable and open to new ideas

Give one example of something you’ve overcome: I’ve been shark cage diving with great white sharks. That takes some overcoming!
