COMPANY PROFILE Nix plays on fun factor

The rule books in most organisations do not state that having fun at work should be a matter of fixed policy. But according to Nick Zammit, Director at Nix Communications Group, unleashing the fun factor will lead to growth and also put a smile on the bank manager’s face.

customers. If you’re happy you tend to do a better job and as a result your customers will recommend you to others. You can only grow from there.”

Founded by Zammit, Nix Network Services began life in 2009. Three years later Sharon Hamilton plus Anna and Gareth Zammit joined the family run business to form Nix Communications Group, incorporating Nix Network Services. This organisation developed stronger relationships with Siemens Enterprise Communications and supply partner Nimans. The current team boasts decades of telecoms experience but doesn’t suffer from stuffy values or backwards thinking. “Our stated aim is to be Siemens Enterprise Communications’ reseller of the year and to have fun getting there,” added Zammit.

support it delivers is a key part of Nix Communications Group’s success, and has been part of the company’s strategy from the outset. The firm was recently awarded the Fastest Growing Reseller and Technical Excellence awards from the vendor for 2012, a springboard for Zammit to realise his ambition of being crowned Reseller of the Year.

He has laid solid foundations to achieve this goal and built a strong team to get him on the podium. Since 2012 the company has grown from 13 employees to 31 full time workers. This growth prompted Nix Communications Group to move into larger premises at its HQ in Romsey and also open an office in Manchester.

“These allow us to cover the whole of the UK,” added Zammit. “Last year’s

turnover was in excess of £3 million and we are continuing to drive sales.”

One of the biggest growth areas witnessed By Zammit is in the UC sector, especially within the SMB market in particular which is open to the technology and what it can bring to smaller, disparate teams and mobile workers. “Saved hours and increased productivity means a lot to smaller teams and is a natural extension to the Siemens Enterprise Communications MX and LX line of solutions,” he added. “Demonstrating these benefits to existing customers and growing the accounts is a large part of our success story.”

That said, there are many resellers looking to add value and distinguish themselves on a variety of fronts, UC is just one of them. Nix Communications Group

has chosen a strategy of customer referrals and solid customer services on which to build the company. It’s proved to be a winning plan with 25 to 30 new customers being added to the books each month. “We don’t do the untried and untested,” Zammit added. “Telecoms is too important for a customer to experiment with. We stick with the brands we know to be reliable and well respected, and we seek to emulate these values when we go forward and pitch for new business.

“We will continue to push forward and accelerate. Nix Communications Group proves that a strong company can emerge even in an unfavourable economic environment. Most importantly, we can do this with a smile on our faces each morning, and that means a lot.”
