World Show Qualification

Changes for 2013 Qualification by participation is even easier for speed

horses! This year, Paints being shown in designated spe- cialty disciplines, including speed events, must compete at two different APHA-approved show events, with a minimum of four total judges during the qualifying period. Horses may be shown in any state, regardless of residence, to qualify—participation is the key. Any APHA-approved event—including dual-approved bar- rel races, for instance—count toward APHA World Show qualification. Read the press release for more information.

8  MAY 2013  PAINT HORSE RACING

Championship Shows Again for 2013, the AjPHA Youth World Champion-

ship Show and the Open/Amateur APHA World Cham- pionship Show will offer payback opportunities for speed- event horses. Timed event jackpots are offered in barrel racing and pole bending events—the fastest overall times, regardless of class or division, receive payback from one overall jackpot per discipline. Payouts are based on the number of paid jackpot entries, per the payout schedule. This year’s AjPHA Youth World Championship Show takes place June 29–July 6, in conjunction with the Appa- loosa Youth World Championship, and as such APHA has decided to open the Hopes & Dreams Barrel Racing and Pole Bending Sweepstakes events to both breeds. All reg- istered Paints—Regular Registry or Solid Paint-bred—or Appaloosas are invited to participate in these sweepstakes classes. Sweepstakes class entry fees are $200 before May 15 or $250 after that date until the day before the class. Purses for each sweepstakes class are pursuant to the number of entries and will be paid back per the payout schedule. Entry forms for the Youth World Show are available in the online Premium Book.
