Stakes Results Corporal Cash earns payday in Victoria Ennis Memorial Stakes


Corporal Cash and Marielajolla battled down the stretch in the April 19 Victoria Ennis Memorial Stakes at Remington Park, with the solid gelding edging out the tobiano mare by a head for the win. A 2011 sorrel solid gelding, Corporal Cash clocked :17.01 in the 330- yard race. A son of Awesome Chrome and Peggys Bouquet (QH), Corporal Cash earned a speed index of 84 along with $12,838 for his first stakes win. With two starts and two wins under his belt, Corporal Cash now has earnings of $20,848 for owner Steve Rutherford of Inola, Oklahoma. Trained by Dee Keener and ridden by Tony Bennett, the gelding was bred by Henry and Linda Bowlan of Tecumseh, Oklahoma.


Finishing in second by a head in :17.04, Marielajolla earned a speed index of 83 and a paycheck of $4,546 for owner Darin Samuels of Mounds, Oklahoma. By Inseperable (QH) and out of Linda Lajolla, the 2011 sorrel tobiano mare was bred by Tom and Marie Denham of Glenpool, Oklahoma. Trained by James Flores and ridden by Leland Parnell, the mare now has $10,789 in earnings from her first three races. Betting favorite Major Tom (ApHC) overcame bumping at the gate to finish third in :17.07 with a speed index of 82, earning $2,570. The 2-year-old

Appaloosa by Red Storm Cat (QH) and out of Eyesa Knockout (ApHC) is owned by Mary Hainline, trained by Eddie Willis and ridden by Jimmy Brooks. Others in the field included Dashing Dylan, Bungee Jumpn, Lanas Lucky Angel, Big Ennis (ApHC) and WW Diamond Lake. Littlemisshonky Tonk and Judy I Reckon were scratched.
