Reigning World Champion Flashthechicks helped his sire overtake the No. 1 spot on the Lifetime Leading Sires of Money-Earners on April 22. At presstime, Flash and Judys Lineage were dueling for the top spot.
“That’s what’s jumped us up on the list. Judys Lineage is seven years older than Flash and has been around a long time, but that’s what got us on top so quick.” This year, Flash has already had several
runners come out with guns blazing. Siblings Imflashinthechicks and reigning World Champion Flashthechicks won the Oklahoma Paint Futurity and Mister Lewie Memorial Stakes, respectively, adding more than $66,000 to their sire’s tally. In late April, Situation claimed the upset victory in the American Paint Classic Futurity. Flashthechick’s victory at Remington
Park on April 20 pushed Flash ahead of Judys Lineage on APHA’s Lifetime Leading Sires of Money-Earning Paints list—Judys Lineage has held that spot since 2008. But with many top runners of his own, it’s likely Judys Lineage will give Flash a run for the top spot. Grateful for his unintentional foray into the Paint Horse industry thanks to Flash’s chrome coat, Larry only wishes his father was here to see the mark their homebred stallion has made on the Paint Horse racing industry. “I wish he’d been here to see all of this—I know he would have enjoyed it,” Larry said. “I’ve enjoyed being in the Paint business. We’ve been here about 25 years now and I owe everything to people who bring broodmares in.” Thrilled at Flash’s success both on and off the track, Larry says the stallion’s not done yet. “I’m really proud of this horse. He
really went way beyond the expectations we had for him. I was just glad to see him get it,” he said. “I think it’s going to be a phenomenal figure that you see his

get reach before he’s done. He’s pretty young—he’s 17 now, and with luck we’ve got a lot of years left in him. He’s still got lots of colts out there. I think we’ll break the $5 million mark this year. There’s no doubt about it, he’s been good for the Paint breed.”
