Stakes Results Situation upsets favorite in the PSBA American Paint Classic Futurity
Breaking well out of the gate, Situation posted an upset victory in the Paint Stallion Breeders’ Association’s $89,000 G1 American Paint Classic Futurity on April 27 at Remington Park in Oklahoma City. Situation covered the 350 yards in a time of :17.62 seconds over the fast track.
Situation started well then wore down the favorite,
Imfl ashinthechicks. The win gained $33,820 and a speed index of 89 for Situation, running his career earnings to $53,482. By Royal Quick Flash and out of Corona Lace, the 2011 sorrel solid gelding is a homebred owned by Wade Leggett of Muskogee, Oklahoma. Situation is trained by Matthew McCart and was ridden by Jesus Salazar. Imfl ashinthechicks, a 2-year-old sorrel solid gelding by Royal Quick Flash and out of Game Chicken, fi nished second in :17.67 with a speed index of 87 in the 350- yard effort. Bred and owned by Shirley Wheeler of Boynton, Oklahoma, Imfl ashinthechicks is trained by Luis Villafranco and was ridden by G.R. Carter Jr. Taking home a $15,130 paycheck, the gelding’s lifetime earnings now exceed $60,000.
Third place in the American Paint Classic Futurity went to She Real Country, a 2011 red roan overo fi lly by Country Quick Dash and out of She Special Leader
(QH). Running in :17.90 in her fi rst stakes race and earning a speed index of 81, She Real Country took home $9,790 for breeders/owners Lloyd Rambo and Randy Davis of Vinita, Oklahoma. The mare’s career earnings are now $19,600. Trained by Tana Pace, the mare was ridden by Raul Gutierrez. Other horses in the fi eld included Coal County Line, Judys Clone, Fast Flyin Flash, Flashem Annie, Showdacious and Quicks Country Dash.
