KEC and its Members Celebrated 76 Years McAninch, Blanton and Brorsen re-elected

Kay Electric and its mem- bers celebrated 76 years of service at the 76th Kay Electric Cooperative Annual Meeting. Un- like the last couple of years, the weather was absolutely stunning. KEC members, employees, direc- tors and special guest enjoyed dinner from End of Main catering. There were more than 50 gifts given out through KEC’s vendors and chamber merchants, a busi- ness meeting convened and the entertainment was amazing, as the Annie Moses Band entertained the crowd.

KEC members and em- ployees were joined by special guest: Sen. Eddie Fields, Sen. Patrick Anderson, Rep. Dale Dewitt, Rep. Steve Vaughan, Bri- anna Domnick with Congressman Lucas’s office and other influential guests from across the county and state.

The Stateline Band started

the meeting off with great enter- tainment. The bluegrass band is put together by a group of gentle- men from northern Oklahoma and southern Kansas. KEC’s own,

David Corn, is a member of the band.

KEC’s Board President, Max Hohmann, welcomed ev- erybody and gave his president’s report for the cooperative. Some of his remarks included: Thanking the men and women who had the foresight to create this organiza- tion more than 76 years ago, KEC had a great year in 2012 primar- ily due to the Oil & Gas Industry, KEC continues to invest on infra- structure improvements for our residential members and shared that Capital Credits were mailed out to the KEC members for the six straight year in the amount of $408,408.

KEC members had the

chance to win a variety of prizes, ranging from gift cards, toolsets, cash prizes, two-$500 prizes and the grand prize of $1000. Edith Hunt of Ponca City took home the grand prize.

The business meeting included a financial report from KEC’s Treasure/Secretary Ron Shoffner, a report from KEC’s law- yer Jon Ihrig, a manager’s report

from General Manager Joe Harris and the election of districts 7, 8, and 9 trustees. Kent McAninch, Dr. Tim Blanton and Verl Brorsen were re-elected to serve three- year terms as trustees for their districts.

The meeting was wrapped- up with a performance from The Annie Moses Band. The ac- claimed family musical ensemble brought its unique blend of classi- cal, Christian, folk and pop music. Based in Franklin, Tenn., the AMB has a number of critically-ac- claimed recordings to their credit. A Christian family of Julliard- trained musicians and award- winning songwriters dedicated to virtuosity in the arts makes up the AMB.

KEC would like to thank all the minutemen for all their hard work, not only during the annual meeting but also the preparation leading up to the big event. 121100
