Trustees Allocate 2012 Margins

This notice of patronage allocation is issued in accordance with the bylaws of Northfork Electric Cooperative. After reviewing the 2012 year- end financial statements, NFEC’s Board of Trustees approved allocating $523,686.19 in excess margins. Margins are calculated each year by subtracting total operating expens- es from total operating revenues. These margins are allocated to members’ capital credit accounts based on the dollar amount of electricity purchased from the cooperative during the year. This allocated patronage capital is combined with total patronage capital 6879-001 that has not been retired (paid) and provides working capital for the cooperative. To determine your amount of this allocation, multiply the allocation factor 0.04202920 by the total amount of your electric bill for 2012. This allocated amount is not immediately available as either cash or credit on your electric bill. These notices are redeemable only at the discretion of NFEC’s Board of Trustees, and are not required to be reported by you for income tax purposes until redeemed for cash, and then only if you receive an income tax deduction for the payment made to the cooperative in 2012. Accordingly, it is unlikely residential patrons will be required to report such allocations even when paid to them in cash or credited to their elec- tric bill.

If you have any questions concerning this allocation please contact us at 580-928-3366 and ask for Lisa Dailey or Jeff Mohr.

New Billing Statement Coming Soon Statements will be Letter-Sized and Include a Return Envelope

The look of your monthly elec-

tric statement is going to change! We are preparing to roll out a

refreshed billing statement late this summer. The current postcard-style billing will be replaced by a stan- dard letter-sized statement. “Some of the new features allow

for more space for cooperative news and information, as well as the convenience of a return envelope,” explains Matt Swint, NFEC Consum- er Services and Communications. Further developments and a

launch date will be featured in future communications.
