Meet the 2013 Youth Tour Winners

It’s one of the seven principles by which cooperatives are guided, and one in which the four outstanding Youth Tour winners are shining examples. Megan Ragsdale, Patrick


Bruce, Peyton Hayes, and Taylor Bookout will be representing OEC as they travel to Washington, D.C. this summer with 70-plus other teens from across Oklahoma. Te annual Youth Tour trip will take place June 14-20, and will consist of stops at the nation’s most prestigious and well-known locales.


Megan Ragsdale, daughter


of Pat and Stacy Ragsdale, attends Tuttle High School. She participates in her chapter’s FFA program and has held the office of chapter reporter for the past two years. She is the junior class Student Council representative, a member of the National Honor Society, and has acted as a page


for the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Patrick Bruce, son of Sean and


Erika Bruce, attends Community Christian School in Norman. He is active in Boy Scouts, the National Honor Society, band, and key club. He holds the title of junior class president as well as eagle scout. He enjoys playing the drums, camping, and hiking. Peyton Hayes, son of Michael


and Tracy Kuhns, attends Bridge Creek High School. He is the junior class vice president and is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, academic team, art club, Spanish club, basketball, and the National Honor Society. He volunteers at the Canadian Valley Center for Autism. Taylor Bookout, daughter


of Gerald and Jennifer Bookout, attends Dibble High School. Tere, she acts as the junior class president, chairman of the prom committee, and Student Council


representative. She is a member of the National Honor Society, chemistry club, drama club, and has been awarded the history, math, and science award. Tese four students were


selected among the top 10 finalists as winners after giving short speeches over their essays (see last month’s issue for exerts). Now, they prepare for what is sure to be the trip of a lifetime. In addition to touring places


like Mt. Vernon, the Smithsonian Museums, the World War II Memorial, and the Pentagon, the students will attend a congressional summit where they can speak with Oklahoma’s elected officials. Tey will also take a cruise down the famous
