and HyperRoute, which enhances the routing system. The company also showed off the LMS-16, a new multi- channel loudness and true-peak metering system for use with SSL’s digital broadcast consoles or as a standalone product. SSL has partnered with Nugen Audio to offer Nugen’s new ‘MultiMonitor’ software pre-installed and configured on a 1RU PC, fitted with SSL’s ‘MadiXtreme 128’ audio interface. SSL’s new MADI Dante Bridge was also on show, billed as the world’s first broadcast specification bridge between the industry standard MADI audio format and Dante IP audio networks. Studer has included Lexicon

effects on its compact Vista 1 console to expand the system’s application potential. VistaFX was released last year as an external engine for the Vista 5 and Vista 9 consoles ranges, but on Vista 1, everything is integral to the console’s DSP system, so no external signal connection or patching is required. Studer’s Vista 5 console,

Vista 5 M3, sees the addition of the manufacturer’s FaderGlow system as well as integrated RTW loudness metering as standard. FaderGlow allows faders to be colour-coded via an LED strip alongside the fader to indicate its function or channel identification. Additional Vista 5 functionality includes new channel metering, touchpad GC control, enhanced networking facilities, and a parallel MADI/Cat5 interface for the monitoring links to the DSP core. Receiving its world debut at IBC2013 was UpCon, TC Electronic’s cinema-quality up-converter which guarantees that broadcasters’ transmissions will always be optimised for 5.1 HD TV. UpCon is a combined up-conversion and downmix processor in a single, high- density rack unit, which continuously monitors the channel format of the incoming audio. If the signal falls back from a true 5.1-to-stereo, it cross-fades into a convincing 5.1 surround up-conversion. TSL Products premiered its

new PAM1 MK2 precision audio monitor at IBC. A successor to the PAM1-3G8, the PAM1 MK2 has an improved

feature set and user interface, upgraded integrated speaker system, larger screens and the same functions as TSL’s flagship monitor the PAM2 MK2. Taking centre stage on the Yamaha stand was Nuage, its

newly-launched integrated production solution. Combining dedicated Yamaha control and interface hardware with Steinberg’s Nuendo 6 DAW software, Nuage is a purpose- built system that aims to offer

unprecedented flexibility and audio quality. Yamaha also presented its CL Series of digital mixing consoles, R-series I/O units and CL Editor software, the Dugan-MY16 auto mic mixing card, HS series studio

monitors, the StageMix v4 iPad app, and Steinberg’s Nuendo Live multitrack recording software. And as if that wasn’t enough, Yamaha kit was also used to deliver significant portions of the IBC Conference.
