installed in the new truck. The onboard graphics are provided by a CasparCG unit that has been taken from 365 Media’s existing SD truck. “We have also fitted the truck with equipment to transmit video to the studio over both IP and dark fibre,” declares Ívarsson.

Studio upgrade

At the same time as the truck was being constructed, work was being carried out to upgrade the studios to HD. “We operate a news studio, one production studio and three sport studios,” says Ívarsson. “At the moment, the production studio and the main sport studio have been fully upgraded to HD. Work on the two additional sport studios and the news studio is planned to be completed for 2014.” Again, Grass Valley equipment has featured in the studio work. “LDX Flex cameras have been installed here, too,” reports Bacho. “In addition, 365 Media has purchased K2 Edge for playout of its channels and GV Stratus for 17 news seats.” Ívarsson explains: “We have been running GV NewsEdit for news and sports, and ingest has been handled there. When the installation of GV Stratus with Edius 6.5 and Aurora Playout control is completed, ingest in the newsroom will move to that system. Ingest of other material, recording of live events and archiving and storage is mostly done on MOG Speedrails, and the storage is a Coraid Network Attached Storage (NAS).” The Coraid system was installed in April this year and within six months, 80% of the initial 180TB capacity was filled. As a result, Coraid provided a second SP3000 server and four additional SRX4200 storage arrays. The system was also upgraded from a 1GbE to a 10GbE connection using the same core chassis with a simple Ethernet card and driver upgrade. This in-line upgrade process provided a smooth and cost-effective transition for 365 Media and has led to no unplanned downtime in nine months.

operation, Ross Synergy MD 1.5 switchers are in use, with audio control being handled by Yamaha CL 5, with two Rio 3224-D, two MY16-AE and a Dugan-MY16. “We like to use standardised

equipment wherever possible as it keeps things simple,” says Ívarsson. “We’re really excited about the
