2012 RECORD: 11-7 (6-2 CENTENNIAL) COACH: HANK JANCZYK (26TH YEAR)

GETTYSBURG BULLETS 12 13 14 15

16 17

The Bullets were outscored in 2012, but that won’t happen again with the return of Martin Manilla (36g, 5a) and Robby Maddux (28g, 7a). The defense will be its typical stingy self with athletic defender Matt Canter and two experienced goalies.

2012 RECORD: 11-4 (6-1 ODAC) COACH: BILL PILAT (24TH YEAR)

ROANOKE MAROONS

The last time the Maroons failed to make the NCAA tournament, they responded with a 17-2 campaign in which they were ranked No. 1 for much of the season. That might be a stretch with this year’s schedule, but Richard Lachlan (40g, 5a) and the offense will keep them in the hunt.

2012 RECORD: 10-7 (6-4 NESCAC) COACH: DAVE CORNELL (7TH YEAR)

CONN. COLLEGE CAMELS

The Camels eked into the 2012 NCAA tournament. It should be a bit easier with John Lyons (33g, 14a) and Andrew Freedman (22g, 15a) returning, and Brogan O’Connor hunkering down in their zone defense.

2012 RECORD: 11-6 (7-1 CENTENNIAL) COACH: JEFF SHIRK (3RD YEAR)

WASH. COLLEGE SHOREMEN

After returning to the NCAA tournament for the first time in three years, optimism abounds in Chestertown. Bennett Cord (38g, 22a) leads an efficient offense. Matching Peter Stewart’s (62.4 percent) productivity in net will be key.

2012 RECORD: 11-7 (7-3 NESCAC) COACH: MICHAEL HIGGINS (3RD YEAR

TRINITY BANTAMS

Offense shouldn’t be a problem for the Bantams with Rob Nogueras (42g, 8), Jeff Hebert (19g, 8a) and Nick Shaheen (19g, 12a) returning, but there are concerns up the middle. Trinity won just 42 percent of faceoffs.

2012 RECORD: 13-5, 5-1 LIBERTY LEAGUE COACH: PAUL WEHRUM (7TH YEAR)

UNION DUTCHMEN

Goalie Sean Aaron and much of the Dutchmen’s defense — the team’s personality for the past three seasons — are gone. Union will be in the Liberty hunt, but it might be one of those deliberate teams stung by new NCAA rules.

2012 RECORD: 14-4, 6-0 PILGRIM LEAGUE COACH: KEITH BUGBEE (30TH YEAR)

SPRINGFIELD PRIDE

Whenever the Pride starts a season with a strong faceoff man and a good goalie, they are going to be trouble. Branden Fernandez (63.6 percent) and Robert Maher (65.1 percent) instantly provide that, and attackman Ryon Lynch (24g, 34a) adds a seasoned playmaker.

2012 RECORD: 14-6, 6-4 NESCAC COACH: JASON ARCHBELL (1ST YEAR)

BOWDOIN POLAR BEARS

Archbell becomes just Bowdoin’s third coach in the last 42 years, and he has everything at his disposal to take a stab at the NESCAC crown. Chris Williamson (62.7 percent) is a dark horse candidate for goalie of the year, and Billy Bergner (21g, 21a) could be on the cusp of a monster season.

2012 RECORD: 12-3, 4-2 LIBERTY LEAGUE COACH: MIKE MAHONEY (16TH YEAR)

ST. LAWRENCE SAINTS

The Saints returned to their old stingy ways last year, allowing double-digit goals just three times. They were two one-goal losses to Union away from an NCAA tournament berth. The goalie platoon of Jeff Goeke and Jack Nuland (combined 7.58 GAA) returns, along with midfielder Pierson Fowler (21g, 8a).
