many surveys since that time. What the Times of London found was that 41% of those surveyed listed public speak- ing as their greatest fear, whereas 19% listed death. Veterinarians we know say that when
they chose animal care as their career choice, they were comfortable in thinking that they would not have to make pub- lic speeches. They said that they looked forward to communicating with animals. By now, you know that even veteri-
narians have to talk to people! What is known as “public speaking” really covers a wide range of “presentations” that vet- erinarians make during their work life. Look at the number of opportunities
you have to make presentations—effec- tive or otherwise.
