Tickhill Riding Club

26th August 2012 Photos by Trafford Photography

Tickhill Riding Club was formed in 1953. The club aims to provide competitions for local riders regardless of their age and ability. The club hosts Club Shows (for members only) and Open Shows and events throughout the summer season with dressage competitions over the winter months. The summer events are held at the Club Field in Carlton-in- Lindrick, Nr Worksop and welcomes new members at any time of the year.

Every year the club holds an Annual Charity Show at which classes are sponsored by local businesses and all the shows proceeds are donated to a nominated charity. This year the charities chosen by the committee were Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity and Bransby Home of Rest for Horses.

In previous years, the club has raised and donated approximately £20,000 to the following good causes: Birmingham Children’s Hospital, PDMRO, M.S Society, Kidney Cancer UK, Sheffield Children’s Hospital Burns Unit, Bassetlaw Hospice and Air Ambulance.

This year’s show was held on the 26th August and was extremely successful! The Ridden showing and In Hand Showing were very popular and it was nice to see a lot of new faces at the show as well as the club members.

Fortunately the sun shone for most of the day, just an odd late shower which didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. The tombola was popular with the children as usual and the raffle boasted some great voucher prizes, raising £270 between them. The final total raised was approximately £2,800 which the committee decided to round upto £3,000 which will be split between the two Charities and hopefully presented to representatives from the respective Charities at one of our September or October Shows. We also hope that a representative from Bransby will be able to attend our AGM on 11th November (see website for full details) to give a talk about their work.

The committee would like to thank all the class sponsors and prize donators and of course the competitors, judges and volunteers for making this year’s show such a success.

We hope to see old and new faces at our upcoming open events, the Open One Day Challenge on 28th October, dressage plus show jumping and working hunter jumping, followed by an Open Dressage Competition on 11th November.

Schedules and further information about the club can be found on our website www.tickhillridingclub. co.uk.
