Pony Club Show Jumping at Burghley Horse Trials
Photos by Julia Shearwood
Thirty-six teams took part in the Pony Club team show jumping competition at Burghley on Thursday 30th August. Teams consisted of three or four members with the best three scores taken into account.
The Fitzwilliam branch kicked off the competition with three clear rounds. About a third of the way through, the Burton team also notched up three clears. As the end of the competition approached, it looked as though the jump-off would be a straight fight between those two teams,
but the Puckeridge team, who were the last to jump, also went clear.
The jump-off was a nail-biting affair with time as well as jumping faults being taken into account. The result was a victory for the Burton team who took home the impressive trophy. The Puckeridge team were second and they also had a trophy to take home because they won the turnout competition. The Fitzwilliam team were third and the Quorn fourth with the fastest 4 faults.
