Team Bronze For British Para-Drivers
and Lucy kept a clear head to complete and ensure her excellent marathon score counted for the team.
Driving as an Individual with her Welsh Section D London Jack Flash, Lindsey Paice from Ware in Hertfordshire, put up a fine performance to finish in sixteenth place overall.

It may not be an Olympic sport but the British para- drivers earned themselves a Team Bronze medal in a fantastic performance at the Para Equestrian World Championships, held at Breda in Holland recently.
Team members Lucy Barclay from Stixwold in Lincolnshire, Deborah Daniel from Whitchurch, Shropshire, and Mick Ward who lives in Loughborough, Leicestershire, put in a storming performance to finish well clear of USA, holding onto their third position following the dressage phase.
In the marathon phase the team was faced with several technical questions in the six obstacles but Lucy and her Connemara x TB horse Barntown put in the

performance of their lives to finish fifth individually. Mick Ward and Angela Flanagan’s part-bred Welsh Double Cream kept the flag flying, finishing ninth individually. Deborah Daniel was going great guns with her own Welsh Section C Valeside Galaxy but suffered a correction of course in Obstacle 2 which cost her dear.
On the final day, in the Cones, the pressure was on; all three team members had to complete to have any chance of maintaining Bronze medal position and the course time was tight. A game plan was created to ensure each hit the split time of 95 seconds and tension mounted as Mick toppled just the final ball to finish inside the time (and second in that phase), Deborah made amends for the marathon with just two balls down in the time

Chef d’Equipe Rachel Belliere- Wilson commented afterwards: “The atmosphere and the entire Breda event were bigger
than the Olympic stage at Greenwich, and the occasion no less grand. The whole team put up a fantastic performance; neither Mick nor Lucy was over-awed for this, their first International appearance, and both upped their game to put in personal best performances. Equally, Debbie’s young pony put in an amazing performance given the atmosphere and occasion. They all united well as a team and did the most incredible job”.

Parelli Driving DVD One to be won
Driving can be one of the most engaging, enjoyable, yet challenging activities you and your horse can do together.
Nate Bowers of Bowers Natural Driving has teamed up with Pat Parelli to share the history, strategy, and savvy you’ll need to become adept – and safe – during your driving excursions.
This two-part DVD set will take you, step-by-step, through the process of setting up a natural foundation with your driving horse. Just as Pat has a four-part Colt Starting ladder (1. Accept the human, 2. Accept the saddle, 3. Accept the rider, 4. Accept the bit), Nate has applied a similar process to driving. With these ingredients in place, along with an awareness of what to do when the unexpected occurs, driving will become a thoroughly enjoyable experience for both you and your horse!
