8. ROUSSILLON / CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE Travel into the Luberon region of Provence to explore Roussillon, surrounded by ochre-colored cliffs and quarries which blaze against the azure sky. Following an orange-hued walking path, you’ll have an opportunity to see why the town’s livelihood was once intricately linked to this colorful natural pigment. TOURNON-SUR-RHÔNE & VALENCE Wind your way up river to medieval Tournon-sur-Rhône to admire views of its ancient Grand Pont and feudal castle and taste its famous Valhrona Chocolates (subject to Monday closings). Travel to Valence for a cooking presentation at an award-winning restaurant and cooking school in town that features fresh ingredients prepared in a light, inventive style.
