Dr. Jacqueline Lui, Managing Director
Dr. Jacqueline Lui is the founder and Managing Director of Eagle IP Limited. A Hong Kong born US citizen, multi-lingual (English, Cantonese and Mandarin), admitted to practice patent cases before the US Patent and Trademark Office, educated in the US and Hong Kong, Dr. Lui has extensive experience in all kinds of IP related matters in major jurisdictions. Her experience in the US, Singapore and Hong Kong has allowed her to provide clients with a “localized strategy of international standards”. She works closely with inventors, outside and in-house counsels and IP managers to determine strategic directions and develop a global and/or Asian IP portfolio based on the needs and resources of the firm. Jackie’s unique Asian insight combined with Western IP law knowledge has attracted much recognition by local and foreign governments, resulting in invitations to participate in a variety of Boards and committees on IP policies and strategies.
Notable legal work
We have a good mix of local and overseas clients. We formulate IP strategies for local clients and then draft and file patent and trademark applications for them worldwide to maximize protection of their IP at the most cost-effective way. We have represented a local client in an appeal of a final rejection at the Board of Patent Appeals and Interference (BPAI) of the USPTO and successfully convinced the BPAI to overturn the final rejection.
We also provide in-depth analysis of Chinese
patent and trademark law and Court decisions to assist overseas clients in formulating their China IP strategy and plan. In the past year, besides the numerous patent applications we have filed for overseas clients in China, we have also filed 9 Request for Re-examination before the Patent Re-examination Board of SIPO. We obtained a favourable ruling in two cases. For another case that was not successful, we have filed for administrative litigation at the Beijing Intermediate Court and are now awaiting Court hearing.
Dr. Lui has extensive experience in all kinds of IP related matters in major jurisdictions.
