Gorrissen Federspiel is recognised as one of Denmark’s leading law firms with a strong national and international practice. In 2011 the firm advised more than half of the most traded companies on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. The firm is a full service law firm covering all relevant aspects of business law. It is Gorrissen Federspiel’s policy
and part of the firm’s strategy to ensure that all associates have an international perspective. Most of the partners and associates have thus worked, trained, and/or taken legal degrees abroad. Gorrissen Federspiel has a total staff of approximately 420 of which more than 220 are lawyers. The lawyers are divided into 11 practice groups which cover most branches. Furthermore, cross-practice groups are established focusing on specific identified business sectors or areas. Danish offices are located in Copenhagen and in Aarhus.
Anne Birgitte Gammeljord
Anne Birgitte Gammeljord has more than 30 years’ experience in business reorganization and the fields of insolvency i.a. in firms within the financial sector, real estate and construction,
and shipping. Her practice covers the entire range of restructuring and insolvency, acting for both creditors and debtors. Anne Birgitte has been involved in many of Denmark’s largest insolvencies. She joined Gorrissen Federspiel in 1980 and has been partner since 1988. She has been a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Danish Bar and Law Society (Advokatnævnet), member of the Committee on supervision and regulations of Danish lawyers (regel- og tilsynsudvalget),member of the Council of the Danish Bar and Law Society, president for the Council of Bar and Law Societies in Europe (CCBE)
www.ccbe.org; member of the council of IBA and member of the board of directors of the association of appointed lawyers to the Maritime and Commercial Court of Copenhagen, Bankruptcy Division (Kuratorforeningen). At the moment she is i.a. member of the board of directors of the association of Danish Insolvency Lawyers, member of the editing panel of the magazine “Advokaten” distributed by the Danish Bar and Law Society and chairman of the Money Laundering Committee of the CCBE.
Notable Legal Work
The insolvency team of Gorrissen Federspiel currently chaired by Lars Grøngaard comprises of more than 20 highly qualified associates and assistants. In the period from summer 2008 when the financial crises emerged the team has acted in a number of major insolvency and restructuring cases in Denmark including businesses within the
financial sector, real estate and construction, wind-energy and shipping. In a number of cases our work has also included handling of the businesses operating outside Denmark and complicated litigation involving the validity of security arrangements established prior to the financial crisis.
