IT’S NOT LONG now until the Cycle Show kicks off at the NEC. In fact you may well be reading this very copy at the show where with any luck the delivery trucks have dropped a bundle of magazines. With Eurobike now long over and done with, the breather between the two shows is a welcome one, but now it’s time to do it all over again. It’s never fun to guess what’ll be a hit pre-show, because nine times out of ten, something entirely unexpected pops up to steal the column inches. Based on what we do already know, however, allow me to pick a few pre-show highlights from some of the smaller fish exhibiting at Cycle that will be worth looking out for: Fibrax, stand B1: Perhaps revolutionary could be a bit of
a strong word to describe a cleat, but Fibrax is promising a vast improvement on the current Look Keo style replacement cleat, boasting to have designed a rotational unit that will double the life over standard units. Pragmasis, stand L41: Can’t lie, I’d not heard of Pragmasis
prior to this month, though had seen their products highly rated online before. Ever heard of Torc anchors? That’s Pragmasis’s handy work.

Ultra Sport Europe, stand F41: As distributors for
Contour, Ultra Sport Europe is on to a winner with the debut showing of the +2 helmet camera. This upgrade on the prior unit uses GPS to track your recorded rides rides so you can watch them back and instantly geotag them to a map when you get home. Want to visually prepare to smash someone’s time on Strava? This is how you’ll do it in future. Sunstar, Stand C44: One for the electric bike fans among
you here. Being shown in the UK for the first time, this Japanese invention is retrofittable to most bikes and now in its third generation, ready for market. We’re told that the ‘I- Bike’ electric drive system converts even recumbents into pedelecs and only adds 3.2 kg in the process. Test drives will be available at the show. Maxim Bikes, stand J8: We actually know very little about this launch, which only adds to the intrigue. What we do know is that this label was formerly Curteis Cycles and that a frame dubbed the Maya is to be launched – most likely a full suspension rig. If you’re reading this before the exhibition kicks off and
you haven’t already done so, you can register for a free of charge trade ticket, useable on any day you can make it, at cycleshow.co.uk/BB.
